I had the same problem and tried all the tips people left here…nothing worked. Then I thought, what would I do if this mac was an old school nintendo? So I blew a little puff of air into my headphone dock, plugged them in, pulled out the headphones…and it worked! Sometimes you just have to go old school I guess.

Monica…..Thanks for the fix. I also went to System Preference-sound and with my headsets plugged in I muted the volume. When I unplugged the headsets my speakers worked fine. Only problem was when I plugged in my headset I would need to return to system preference and unmute my headset to listen with headsets and of course then my speakers wouldn’t work. So…. with headsets muted i.e. speakers working, I did a shut down, then removed the battery. Waited a little bit then installed the battery and turn my macbook back on. After it booted up everything worked normally.

okay so i am a major mac newbie and i just got my brand new imac 21.5 i5 out the box on Monday. After 24 hrs of basically getting to know the imac, last night i checked for updates and found it needed to “critical updates” according to the mac, i installed them and it needed a restart according to the update (so i did that before going to bed) ………. I woke up this morning to a blinking folder with a question mark. I followed the manual that came with the imac (option and power) it gave me “repair internet connection” i clicked it and it gave me this error ” -1005F ” Has anyone heard of this happening after an update and what is the solution. I would rather not call APPLE CARE for i hate customer service for most companies and am afraid of dealing with a moron.

Like mentioned above i had two pair of headphones,
plugged one into the headphone jack & the other into
the port next to it, left them in for like a minute, then pulled

i had the same issue with my mac for days that it does not recognize an unplugged headphones . i was just reading this forum now and decided to play with my mac, i plugged the headphones back went to system preference pane – sounds – output volume then hit MUTE option then unplugged the headphones then voila!!… right after unplugging headphones, the PLAY SOUND EFFECT THROUGH headphones shifted to internal speakers. Working perfectly..at least to mine. Just try..

Hi, in my nine years of expertise I am able to state this about defense against trojan viruses. 1. Install a firewall first, and dont enable every connection that appears, exactly what this does is prevents the trojan’s host from connecting with the cyberpunk. Zone alarm free does great for this. 2. utilize the MSCONFIG function and prevent weird/unwanted services from starting up. I prefer to fiddle around in task manager initially and turn things off and discover their particular affects just before modifying MSCONFIG. 3. Get the right antivirus software for your system and do not power it down! 4. always scan files individually before opening them, especially if your downloading via torrents or some other peer to peer program. 5. try to steer clear of websites which contain adware and spyware, for those who have zone alarm/avast installed and working together, this will work. 6. appreciate browsing the web using a secure machine

Hi, I stumbled on your very helpful website while looking for help with error code 8022, which appeared when I was trying to delete files in Trash. I have a five year old Power Mac running OSX 10.4.11. My (overloaded) iPhoto has crashed and it tells me the files are corrupt and cannot be opened, and although I can still do some things, Quark XPress is behaving oddly too, and applications are apt to close down unexpectedly. I have backed up everything I can think of which is important on an external hard drive. I tried using Disk Utility, but although I could verify and repair permissions, it would not allow me to verify or repair the HD. I had great difficulty getting the CD tray to open, but when it did finally I tried starting up using the installation disk (as suggested in MacHelp) but it did not allow me to repair the HD either, only suggested reinstalling the OS, which I have not done so far (external scanners, printers, etc to reinstall, I was hoping to avoid this). Hope all this is not an indication that the Mac is dying. Sorry to be long-winded, and hoping for suggestions. Many thanks.

hi having an error with my book. when i turn on it gives me a loading screen with the apple. after i get a gray screen that says i need to restart or turn off my mac. i switched hardrives n still does it. i looked it up kinda n i guess its called gray screen of death. please help.

I think I found a real answer to this problem.

I tried the q-tip thing mentioned above and it did not work. I do not recommend trying this, but I was desperate. I also tried the plugging the headphones in and out which did not work and which I also do not recommend.

What I did was I had two pairs of headphones and I plugged both in, one into the headphone port and one into the port next to it. When I took the headphones out the red light went off.

Good luck fixing this problem.

I work in outside sales and I am on the road 90% of the work week. I used to buy bottled water constantly (anywhere from 3 to 5 bottles a day!) setting me back close to $20.00 a week, $80.00 per month alomst $1,000 per year etc… I recently purchased a stainless steel water bottle for $9.99 at a local outdoor retailer. Now when I am on the road and I need aqua I stop at BK, fill the bottle and head out! Water deserves to be free!

Hi, Just wanted to add that although the blog writer for instance cannot make RSS go to someones e-mail, an individual user can actually get an RSS feed to come straight into their e-mail, the user needs to have something like Microsoft Outlook or the Mail application on the Mac, in the case of Mail on Mac they can click on the RSS icon, then paste the Url of the feed into "add RSS" in the file menu of Mail. Then the feeds will come straight to their e-mail box. Mac example Pc example

I give you that the installation process could be simpler, if it were possible. I should have worded to clarify that the installation process, when compared with any other software that is installed on a webserver, is magnitudes easier – especially the automated updates feature.

However, this still is not for the average user. First off, it requires the user to have a web server space (although with even more technical knowledge you could install the software locally on your Mac and use it through a browser, but you wouldn’t be able to easily use it with any other devices, such as your iPad when you’re away from home) and to configure a database.

Ideally, Shaun would offer a hosted subscription solution for those that do not have server space or don’t want to bother – I’d pay $4.99/mo for something like this if I did not already have a server just idling

HARD START ISSUE! I bought it brand new. A 2009 Nissan versa sedan. I believe it is the 1.6l engine, AT trans, and A/C. After the 5th or 6th try, it will eventually start. I “believe” that the lemon law here in TX states that if your car is in the shop for the same “issue” (not the dealer trying out different parts to replace for the same problem) you can return the car.

SUGGESTION/IDEA FOR EVERYONE: Take your cell phone or video camera, film yourself walking to the car,opening the door, placing the key in the ignition, and film this event happening. I can forsee the dealer claiming that your issue is frivolous because it is an intermittent and random event that they are not able to replicate therefor unable to repair. Now you have it on video so you can show them exactly what is happening.

Same problem with my 2008 Versa (purchased new in Dec. 2007, and currently has 22,400 miles on it). It starts fine sometimes, but for about a week or so it’s been not starting on the first or second or third or fourth or fifth crank. I haven’t been stranded yet, but I’m scared! I called the Nissan dealer where I bought it, and he told me there was a known problem with the fuel pump. I have an appointment for next week to take it in. I’m curious to know if others here have the keyless ignition or have to start their cars using a key. I have the keyless. Is that a factor?

We have a 2008 nissan versa. And were having the same starting problem as other people were writing in about.
The car was not starting in just a few seconds like it did when New. you would have to spin the motor over for up to 10 second to get it to start.
We toke it to the shop and they found a fuel pressure regulating valve that needed replaced.
the part cost about 27 dollars they also have to replace a seal when they take it apart which costs 34 dollars. total with labor was about 225 dollards. my extended warranty covered all but the 25 dollar deductable.
I hope that helps somebody else.

seriously I’m starting to hate our 2008 Nissan Versa. It has left us stranded for atleast five times (or more) with our lil ones. It will not start until like an hour and thirty minutes later. We bought it out of need last year preowned. I have called Peacock Nissan in Houston, to seek help. But no luck they talk to you like if they don’t care. It’s time consumers to put our foot down and demand a recall. After reading all these terrible stories. We need to take action before something deadly (as an accident) happens.

Your tutorial explains the basic but how do I mirror a skewed item?

For example: I have a square bottle of perfume that is taken from an angle so the bottom is not horizontally straight (in other words a distorted capital L in 3D). So when I flip it, one side of it just moves further away and while one corner is touching also there is no reflection under the bottom corner that is at an angle?

I purchased a 2008 Nissan Versa Hatchback Aug 2007-Brand new right off the truck. The frist day my cd player / Radio broke, then my middle seat belt had to be replaced 4 times, all the trim around my windows are not secured. And I have had my fuel Pump replaced twice. The first time it was under warranty the second time it wasn’t and nissan would not refund me the money. I am out of 700.00. It is really sad that a company is allowing this to go on.

Some documentation is always a good idea – however, I had zero problems using it and I think the interface is very intuitive and within a short time one has figured out everything. Great program, but seems to have a bit of a problem with large concurrent downloads of multiple big folders. That said, I like it a lot, but it will have to prove whether it is a serious contender, not just in terms of design and usability, but also technically. So, if anything can point me to a serious review and comparison that explores the limits of each (Flow, Transmit, Captain and the like) please let me know. Thanks.

Things 1.4 for iPhone added support for landscape mode, my single biggest complaint of the app. Also added searching to the app, a very nice addition Im not quite sure how i originally missed it.

i recently sat down and reviewed all sorts of “programming” fonts. from consolas, to inconsolata, to andale mono, lucida typewriter, proggy, you name it…..

liberation mono was the best of the bunch. it looks fabulous with OS X’s font rendering engine. not sure how it looks on windows, tho.

I was successful at ripping a DVD directly from the optical drive to my hard drive without having to first rip an uncompressed version first. I think the trick is you need to load it up in DVD Player first. Once the movie starts, close DVD Player and open the disk in CrossOver DVD Shrink. It should then start reading the disk without throwing an access denied error.

My message was code 1712. I tried placing my disc 1 in and installing the utility but it rejected it each time and then I discovered that what I really needed to do was update my computer and then everything worked fine. I hadn’t updated my computer in a week. so I think that’s all I needed was to update my computer because everything is now working properly. Hope this help someone with code 1712. I wish apple would publish these little tips. My gosh. It’s so time consuming to figure these things out.

Hi,

I downloaded Mac OS X 10.5 (x86, 64-bit), DMG Archive from dev.mysql.com and having a bit of a problem. Didn’t have any problems w/installation, but when I click on the button, StartMySQLServer, and enter my password, all I get is the spinning rainbow wheel. I tried several times, but it’s not working.

It comes up:

Error
Could not startup MySQL server
Reason 255

I’ve not been able to find out what that error code references. Is there any chance that the version I downloaded, and/or its specific mirror was faulty? Double checked my comp display, and it’s 32 bit. Could that be it?

My 2008 Nissa Versa has 43,000 miles on it. Sounds like a lot, but really, it isn’t for newer cars. I was driving on the freeway the other day doing 70mph in the far left lane, when the car COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I had to think fast since the car went from 70-0mph in less than 10 seconds. I made it to the left shoulder and had a tow truck take it to the Nissan dealer. Turns out it is a FAULTY FUEL PUMP! Nissan fixed the pump and everything, but I am still upset that this happened to my newer car. I’m also upset that any warning lights didn’t come on, it just died. Luckily it didn’t fail in the middle of the road or there could have been a huge wreck.

It does work under Windows, go to settings and set your codec to import audio cds to AAC, then right-click the file and convert to AAC. Then rename and reimport. Done!

The blinking question mark on a folder means that the computer can’t find a System folder on the boot drive (your hard drive).

This most likely indicates a hard drive failure, and I would recommend a few things. If you have a Mac with a firewire port and have access to another Mac with a firewire port, you can purchase a cable that has the same connection on both ends so you can plug your Mac to the other one. From there, you could possibly have access to all your files on the second Mac and be able to retrieve your data.

Try googling for booting in “Target Disc Mode” for more information on this.

If you have a recent backup, either of your own doing or possibly with Time Machine, it might be time to do a restore. And finally, if these don’t succeed, you probably will need a new hard drive. If your Mac is still under warranty, it would be a good idea to take it to your local Apple Store to talk with a Genuis.

Found the fix myself !

Apparently, the installer assumes some hard-coded location for the installation path and forces the installation in /Developpers.

My layout is different.

I moved everthing manually and it seems to work.

I bought a 2008 Versa, it’s a pre-owned and it’s 36000 km when I bought it. I feel sorry for others who got lots of problem about their versa. My Versa didn’t give me any problem even the starter it start with just only one click. Before I bought it, me and my wife always pray to God that give us a very good car with having no problem and which is fit in our budget. Right now, I’m really enjoying driving my 2008 Versa and haven’t got any problem with it. Thank God for giving us a good Versa.

I have a 2009 Versa, with about 5500 miles on it. I have been having the worst time getting it to start for the last month! every time i try to get it to turn on, it won’t start in a second or so! i sit there for atleast 20 seconds with it not catching. then i have to turn it off and try again. it will finally start after the second time. every time i try it doesnt want to start, but if someone else is around or starts it, it works! i know it’s not me, so i had my boyfriend start it, and it wouldn’t start for him. so i had my car taken to a shop and they told me there isn’t anything wrong with it!having a car that doesnt work in college when i’m over an hour away is not good!! so yeah right that there is not something wrong! i think if this many people are having problems, Nissan needs to put out a recall and give us all a reimbursment for all of the times we’ve had to take it to the garage to “get it fixed.” luckily, my mother called the head of Nissan and is supposed to be hearing back from them soon!

Sounds like everything is in place, but I’m not familiar with AppleScript Studio.

However, I did have a lot of trouble with an AppleScript on Tiger and Snow Leopard both, which I wrote a few years ago. I struggled getting it to run on Snow Leopard, and eventually got it working flawless by checking the “Open in 32-bit mode” from the Get Info window. I can’t remember if that was before or after I had made a small edit to the script.

It was very flaky on Tiger after that as well, as I shared it with a colleague. And I was also trying to whip up an Automator workflow, which would not run on Tiger after I was finished. Not sure if I used an action that wasn’t available on Tiger or if Tiger just won’t run newer Automator workflows.

Let us know if you do get it working and what steps you had to take to get it there.

From Wiki:

The historical binary interpretation of mega is still in wide use by the consumer software industry and use of the mebi prefix is still not common. This leads to consumer confusion when 220 (1,048,576) bytes is referenced as 1 MB (megabyte) instead of 1 MiB. For example, the operating system Windows XP shows a file of 220 bytes as “1.00 MB” in its file properties dialog. Likewise, a file of 106 (1 000 000) bytes is reported as 976 KB. In another example, the 1.44 MB floppy disk’s storage capacity is calculated using 1,024,000 bytes per “MB” (i.e. 1.44 times 1024 times 1000), rather than 1.44 mebibytes (1.44 times 1,048,576). The three size designations are similar in value.

I think it’s great that Apple is going to be politically correct. I was just amazed that I hadn’t come across this in school.

I have resolved my problem with “pages applications” I had to reload the software just for that one application, I have still not gotten email to work, though according to ALL diagnostic checks – it is 100% correct, so I have missed something along the line. I’m getting -1710 I can’t open “Pages application, or any of my existing documents that were created using it. (only on my new MacBook Pro), I have a 4 year old Black MacBook, I am not having this problem on that one.
I also can’t connect with my SMTP server, it does not recognize my user name on either of my MacBooks. All the settings are correct, I have taken them all out, and redone them “in case it was what was needed” still refuses to acknowledge me”. When I correct the issues, I’ll come back in and let everyone know how I did it.

HD makers have used 10E3 for K, 10E6 for MB, and 10E9 for GB for 25+ years. A 320GB drive is 320,000,000,000 bytes, and always has been. Mac OS X has been stubbornly using a different value than the HD box says all this time.

Hi, I have a 2008 Versa (purchased in April 2008). I bought it new, fully loaded SL hatchback with the CVT. I am currently sitting at about 23,000 kms and have not had any problems. I absolutely love it. It starts every time, and drives very smoothly.
I had a question though. Some people say the iphone works, others say it doesn’t. I have bluetooth, and want to get an iphone in a couple months. Will it work with the bluetooth in my car, because if it doesn’t then I am not even going to purchase the iphone.
Overall, love my Versa, and wouldn’t trade it in for anything.

Have the iPhone, but not the bluetooth. Seems like I've heard quite a few people say that the iPhone won't work with the built-in bluetooth, but I'm not sure why.

I purchased a 2009 Versa about a month ago. It had 5,500 miles on it and was in the Nissan show room. I love the car, but have noticed the problem with it starting on occasion. If it starts cranking, I push the pedal to the floor once and it will start after that. I should not have to do this, however, and I am afraid this is a sign of a problem that is going to get bigger. I’m going to call the dealer and also print out the numerous comments about the Versa’s starting problems and take them with me. I also have a survey from Nissan in my email that I have not responded to, but I intend to let them know about the problem. There should be a recall and the a proper replacement part installed. It does not make sense to replace a bad fuel pump with another that is exactly the same.

Hi, I guess I figured out how to fix the issue setting Java 6 (or any other version):

cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions
sudo mv CurrentJDK CurrentJDK.orig

Once you do that, Java Prefs app works as expected… go figure, I’ve never touched that settings and my mac has less than a week.

That would certainly do the trick

To stop the “On My Mac” and “On MobileMe” calendars, disable contacts/calendar syncing in iTunes and let MobileMe do it all for you.

I’m not sure what to tell you on this one. If I just rearrange the order, the changes take effect immediately for me.

I do recommend just making sure that you are rearranging the list for the applications, not for the web applications which presumably just deals with the version of java used by web browsers.

Regardless, unless you have some applications that require Java SE 6 (and there are some, I believe that Limewire is one) this shouldn’t affect you.

I’ve tried to switch to java SE6 on my macbook pro… but although I did change it in Java Preferences, when I “java -version” in my terminal, I always get the same version, no matter what I do in Java Prefs…

Not too surprising since the service just launched.

I added 3 calendars, the DVD releases and Movie releases (theater) added just fine. The third, the US Holidays calendar, never seemed to add. So I copied the link from the email and went into Settings -> Mail/Contact/Calendars -> Add Account -> Subscribed Calendar and pasted it there and it added it just fine.

However, I restarted my phone anyway and turns out all the times I had clicked on the link for US Holidays, it had added but not shown up in iCal on the phone. So then I had to delete a bunch of calendars.

Completely different question, but do you have two sets of calendars on your phone? I have one set under “From My Mac” and then the same thing again from “MobileMe”. Terribly irritating, although I don’t think I have duplicate entries, just duplicate calendars now.

It seems to! sort of. The subscribed calendars from my work do not work. Get the message “Cannot Subscribe” the url starts with webcal:// and works on all my mac computers (2 macbooks and an iMac) on different types of network. Anyone else have this problem? anyone fix it?

I’m not really sure on this one, as my system reports the same thing. However, if I open the Terminal ( Applications / Utilities ), the Java runtime reports using version 6 Update 7.

I have a Core 2 Duo Intel iMac. Dragged the 64-bit Java SE 6 to the top as as suggested doesn’t seem to work. When I go to http://www.javatester.org/version.html it shows 1.5.0_16 as the current version.

I too have a problem with starting my 2008 nissan versa. Bought it new. Love the car, ride, room etc, but…hate the starting system. We have the keyless system. Been in shop for hard starting 3-4 times. THis last time they changed out the fuel pump, etc. Had only 3 days now and started to crank but not start AGAIN!! I definately got a lemon, and YES Nissan needs to do a recall for this problem. My dealership is absolutely wonderful to work with, but, it’s getting so old having to drive to the dealership (40 mins away), drop off car, then have to go pick up. I’m going to have to get some better results with the repairs. Thinking about applying the lemon law and try to get compensation for this recurring problem.

If you look in the iPhoto ’09 resource bundle there are a bunch of images starting with ‘HUD_’ that iPhoto uses for buttons and such. You have to assign them to your NSButtons in your code, but still, better than nothing.

Could you help me with an “Mac OS Error = -32030? that I wasn’t able to find a single post, neither at Google searching nor at Apple’s Support webpages?
It has to do with burning DVDs, particularly DVD-R DL ones.

Sometimes, the error message takes another form and says:
“Couldn’t complete the last command because of a Mac OS Error.
Result Code = -32030?

Also, it precedes either of the above forms of the same error message, another message that tells me: “Interface connection was unstable” or something like that.

The strange thing is that when I’m searching all those terms or phrases in Apple’s Support site I don’t get even a single result … ONLY ME IN THE WHOLE WORLD (!!) that kind of problem has chosen to make its appearance?

I have an early 2008 iMac 24? at 3,06 GHz with 4 GB DDR2 RAM and I’m using Toast 10 Pro as for burning my discs.

According to http://www.peter.com.au/programming/mac-os-errors.html, error -36 is simply listed as an I/O Error. Since you say you have CS3 from a .dmg file, I would assume this has been downloaded. Not to encourage illegal downloading, but attempting to download another copy would probably be the best bet.

I bought my 2008 Versa in April 2008 and they had to jump start it with only 34 miles on it before I bought it. I went on vacation and I had to jump start it after 5 days of sitting. Brought it in twice to dealer. The first time they said the battery was fine. I told them to look into the fuel line. They replaced something, which did not help. I told them the fuel pump. Then I told them I wanted a new battery since the original had to be jumped started when i bought it. When I was bringing it, it wouldn’t start. So I got it jumped and had them replace it the battery and the fueld pump and it worked like a charm until 7 months later… now… I am taking it in because it is having problems again. And now the service light came on… it has 13,600 miles on it. If it isn’t fixed this time, it then goes to lemon law. They have to fix it on the third time. Nice car, but sucky gas mileage (28 on highway and much worse around town).
I have the SL fully loaded manual hatchback. We are going to the dealer after work today. And they are providing a rental… again.
I found this website because I Googled for recalls. They should put a recall in for this problem.

Thanks for the post. This was really a relief. I’ve just finished reading a book on RSS from the ground up and I was concerned whether Rapidweaver could create a feed for me or not and you confirmed that it is easier than I thought!

I have a 2008 Versa ( purchased in 2007) and am nearing the end of the warranty. A few weeks ago, at about 30,000 miles, car stopped running while idling. AAA responded, physically hit the gas tank under the car and it started, car has run fine since. Mechanic said sometimes tiny particles might interfere with gas getting through to start. A few weeks later, drove out of town —- 1000 miles. On my return home, car froze on highway at a speed of 60 mph, had no acceleration or power. Luckily, car stopped by a town that had a Nissan dealer. ( Car required a tow). Fuel pump was replaced under warranty. Upon my return home I Googled Nissan fuel pump problems and it appears that the there are repeated fuel pump / starting problems being reported by Versa owners. If you are having trouble starting your car you should insist they check the fuel pump. No new car should have problems starting up. I was very lucky to be in the location I was; what turned out to be an incovenient delay could’ve been disastrous if I’d been in the passing lane on the highway or in fast traffic.

Apple released SE 6 back in April of 2008. There have been two security releases since then. To check if you have these installed on Leopard, open Software Update from System Preferences and click on the Installed Updates tab. You should see “Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1″ from April 2008, as well as Update 2 and Update 3 very recently.

So short answer, SE 6 is available through Software Update for Intel Leopard users.

Do NOT set Java 6 to be the default, if you plan to run Eclipse or any other SWT-based app; they are not 64-bit compatible.

The best solution I’ve found is to leave Java 5 as default, and set JAVA_HOME and PATH to Java 6 in Terminal, and set the compiler/runtime in Eclipse to Java 6.

sorry nancy! I forgot to write in the response, I guess that would be helpful right? But I bought a nissan versa 09 in september, AND I HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I couldn’t start my car since October, and have been in and out of the shop EVERY month after I purchased the car. It would take at least 3 tries to start my car and it is super frustrating to know that you might be stranded somewhere especially when you’re driving a brand new car that was purchased 4 months ago! The dealers are absolutely not cooperative and to me a little bit inexperienced!! They told me guarantee that after changing a part that the problem would go away, but obviously not! It is getting worst and worst!! I have contacted the headquarters and talked to managers about everyday, but they seem like they don’t want anything to do with it! I would understand if there is a problem with a 6 year old car, but not with a newly purchased car! It is wasting my time and energy, since my new job is to bring the car into the shop everyday!!

I agree that some type of “Cloud” syncing for Things would make the workflow more natural and useful, but I don’t find myself making changes on my iPhone and getting back to my Mac when I can’t just sync the two right then. It works, but definitely isn’t the greatest solution right now.

As for the price, I believe that it is completely warranted. If you don’t feel the software is worth the price, don’t buy it. There are cheaper alternatives out there. However, cheaper applications is exactly what you’ll get.

I can’t be too sure on this. I would imagine that using something like CrossOver, Parallels, or VMWare would restrict access and be safer. However, Boot Camp just lets Windows run like it would on a PC, so I could see this being the more virus prone solution.

I’m not sure about any of this mind you.

I like Things… but the iphone sync sucks. You have to start things on your iphone when on the same wireless network as your mac. This is not a natural workflow…you use the iphone app when you are AWAY from your computer.

What they need is a web version and a web sync. Just like Evernote.

Also, $50 for a task list is ridiculous. Price point should be $20, they would make more revenues IMO.

What confirmation is there that TV Shows is actually going to get an update? The sourceforge page still has the same page it’s had up for the last year that 1.0 was “coming soon” (not holding my breath). I love the app, it could do more, but it’s great the way it is too.

Well then you bring up a good point. I had just assumed that the page was recent. Should have looked in a little deeper. I could have swore that I had been to the site in the last few months, but I don't guess I have since you say that the teaser page has been up for awhile.

One thing you might consider adding is a list of all your pages. It’s nice to be able to click right back into a site after an error.

If they are giving you Bottled Water as you would get in a deli, then I can see charging the $1.00 or so. But if they are giving tap water (which can be funny tasting sometimes) then I think they should not be charging for it. Perhaps they are actually charging for the cup. Still stinks though.

I think you are confused about the general principle behind RSS. RSS just allows someone to subscribe to your content in a program such as Net Newswire or Google Reader. For a blog, the individual posts would show up in that program. Email is not associated in any way with RSS.

Hi all,

(you’ll find the links to get there in any of the error code pages including the one posted above)

However, I cannot find error code -1319 in the list and I just got it (reason why I was searching for it…).

I’m running OSX tiger in a standard macbook (intel) with 1GB of ram and trying to copy information from a 250G lacie external hdd (using usb) to a 80G freecom hdd (using also usb). The transfer bar is less than 1/4 across and I get the error ‘operation could not be completed due to system error code -1319′

I wonder if any of you knows where can I find more info? maybe someone knows what this error means and can tell me?
I am searching the internet left and right but I really can’t find it.

Any info is appreciated ^^

I read your information. Still a little confused; I was thinking that having an RSS included would allow those subscribing to obtain an email when the site was updated? Would this be true? This is my objective.

I am just getting started on this site to provide information on new products, developments etc to our distributors.

I did get a blue symbol in my bar when I went to the site in Safari, but wasnt able to give my email address – just went back to the site. Am I missing some basic concepts of RSS?? Any comments will be helpful!

Just to make sure, you can open System Preferences -> Sound -> Input and check that either “Internal Speakers” is listed for the “Built-In Output” option, or “Headphones” is listed instead.

If headphones is listed and you don’t have any plugged in, the only real advice I have for you is to try and remove them a few times, or possibly try the Q-Tip trick mentioned above. However, if you’re near an Apple Store (regardless of whether your Mac is under warranty or not), I’d highly suggest just taking the machine in to the Genius Bar. I would sincerely hope that they would get this fixed for you in a few minutes no charge, unless something more serious is required.

Let us know what happens, as it seems there are a few people who have had this issue!

I’ve had my 2009 Nissan Versa HB for less than 3 weeks. It’s only got 400 miles on it, and I am having the same problem as previously mentioned with the slow start. My dealer told me that the Nissan manufacturer told them that the Versa and Sentra can take up to 8 seconds of cranking to start. Anything over 8 seconds and it’s a problem. To me, it sounds way too long. It should not take that long for the fuel to reach the engine…ever! And with all that cranking, can’t you wear out your starter. I love everything else about my new little Versa. I just want everything to work well. For a 2009 vehicle, I would have expected it to at least make it to 2009 without problems!

FWIW: I had issues starting my Versa S until I went to the dealer that told me never to push on the gas pedal while cranking the engine. Has started like clockwork ever since.

I think the stance Apple is taking is no surprise. This is a company that is always looking to the future. Never the reactionary stance, Apple is keen on being the radicals of the computing market with extensively good results in the past decade. To have their own in-house policy of giving benefits to all unions (same-sex or not). If anything, Apple is targeting the future of our country. If liberal-minded parents keep purchasing their products and services, their children will be growing up knowing that format. This is keen to the next generation of our population that will grasp a company like Apple at hand: Automatically looking at the PC market in terms of reactionary-stance politicians on the “right-side” of the spectrum.

I’ve encountered this twice before Tim. Once on my iPhone, second time on a friend’s MacBook. Both times the device still thinks that the headphones are still plugged in, so the speakers don’t ever work. Changing the volume is just changing the volume for the headphones.

To solve the issue on my iPhone, I had to plug the headphones back in and remove them a couple times and it started working correctly. My friend with the MacBook cut the end off a Q-Tip and inserted the plastic cylindrical part into the headphone port to make the MacBook realize there wasn’t any headphones plugged in. She only did this b/c she didn’t have headphones with her, and I caution against it.

However, it seems that something doesn’t quite get reset when removing the headphones and the device still thinks it is plugged in. I suggest you try this and see what happens.

I assume this decision came about because of this article, the wording of your comment slightly confuses me.

You’re completely entitled to your view, I just wanted to know if you are opposed to a company taking a stance on a political/civil issue, or if it is the issue itself.

I myself have mixed feelings about companies getting involved as such. I think it could be very dangerous, so I was wondering if that was your reasoning.

I am having no end of trouble with my new 3G iPhone and my bluetooth handsfree in my 2008 Nissan Versa SL hatchback. It worked PERFECTLY with my old Sony Ericson phone … clear sound so that no one could tell if I was on the phone or the handset. The iPhone paired quickly with the car but the sound quality is horrible. Every one I talk to complains that they can’t hear me, it sounds tinny or far away and a lot of interference. The phone will also hang up the sound system if you switch it from bluetooth to iphone during a call. Once you hang up on the phone, the bluetooth in the car sometimes stays on “telephone” and will not disengage, even if you turn off the engine at a stop light and restart. Did I pair them up wrong? Nissan says the iPhone is compatible with the car.
