Cirencester, United Kingdom – TapMob introduces Romans 1.0 for iOS. The Romans app, created by local business TapMob, will give visitors to the town and its museum an in-depth experience of Roman Cirencester. The app, available for iPhone and iPad, provides a tour of Roman Cirencester taking in the key archaeological sites, an enhanced tour of the Museum plus teacher and pupil learning resources for primary and secondary schools.
Romans includes artists’ impressions of what the town and its people looked like and photographs of objects found during excavations in the town, now on display in the Museum. The Town Tour uses GPS navigation to pin point your location within the town as it is now and as it was laid out by the Romans. The main Roman sites are represented and you can hear archaeologists talking about the excavations, see photographs of the excavations taking place and find out what objects were discovered at each of the sites. Also included is a walking tour around the town to visit the different sites. The Learning Zone is ideal for anyone teaching the Romans or for children studying the Romans in school. You can even test your knowledge with the fun interactive quiz all about Roman Cirencester and download the activities pack full of exciting activities to try your hand at.
The response to the app has been very positive when tested with visitors and volunteers at the Museum. Classes from local schools also gave it the “thumbs up” before its launch.
TapMob’s Managing Director Laith Clark said, “We are very proud to have partnered with the Corinium Museum to create this app, which is unique on the App Stores, looks stunning and presents a huge depth of content for anyone downloading it.”
The Museum’s Curator Amanda Hart commented, “This project has been a long time in development so the entire Museum team are excited that it is finally becoming a reality. We are all delighted with the app and we hope that locals, Museum visitors and visitors to the town can now benefit from this technological development.”
