Flow FTP Review – Site Stats

It’s always interesting to see what people are coming to the site to read, how long they’re staying and where they’re going to.

I use and love Mint, from Shaun Inman, for all this analysis (in conjunction with Google Analytics of late) and this one caught me off guard this morning.

A lovely 2200% increase in traffic to this one post reviewing Flow FTP, originally posted on April 4th 2008.  My simple explanation for this trend being the ongoing MacHeist  Nanobundle 2, which offers Flow FTP as part of the 7 applications available ($260 value at $19.95).

If you’re a blogger and have an interesting trend to share, or if you have an alternative explanation for the Flow FTP review being so popular all of a sudden, I’d love to hear it.  Leave me some feedback in the comments.

Perhaps it’s because Flow lacks even rudimentary documentation on how to get started. Every (and I’ll bet every) purchaser of that bundle is out here wondering how in hell to get the damned thing to work. How ’bout just a little fucking hint?

If that’s the case, I’m sorry I couldn’t provide that information for you.

Have you contacted Brian at ExtendedMac and let him know this serious shortcoming?

Some documentation is always a good idea – however, I had zero problems using it and I think the interface is very intuitive and within a short time one has figured out everything. Great program, but seems to have a bit of a problem with large concurrent downloads of multiple big folders. That said, I like it a lot, but it will have to prove whether it is a serious contender, not just in terms of design and usability, but also technically. So, if anything can point me to a serious review and comparison that explores the limits of each (Flow, Transmit, Captain and the like) please let me know. Thanks.
