Schoolhouse 2 and Journler 2.5 Reviews

I have reviewed both of these applications in the past. However, both of these apps deserve a second look because the feature set has changed so much. In the case of Schoolhouse, the app went from being adequate to a full-fledged class management application that I cannot function without. Journler has matured over time, but remains an application that I admire, but yet do not use to its full potential.

You can download Schoolhouse 2 here.

Schoolhouse is a great app, a must have for any college student. I have not checked out Journler yet, but will be listening to your podcast to get an idea on it.

WoW! I had never heard of Schoolhouse until this podcast. With a daughter in college, I’ll be downloading this for her to look at.

Currently – we use Journler. With the built-in wordprocessor and browser you can easily create/write your papers for school, track references etc. The app is scriptable and there are scripts available in the Forum and at the Blog. The Smart folders help her and I keep our info seperate. I think the coolest addition has been the Journler Drop Box. It sits on the Desktop and you can Drag & Drop whatever and it brings up a window and BAM! added to and filed away in Journler for future reference – Goodbye Stickies all over the desktop!

If you want Organization get Journler.

Downloaded Schoolhouse this morning, a little late end of the semester. Anyway, my daughter loved it! She’s wants to sit down during the break and learn how to use it.

I’ve got to start listening to your podcasts more often.

I have been unable to get Schoolhouse 2 run. The application starts and asks for a term but it won’t let you do anything. Running Leopard 10.5.2

That’s strange. I’m running Schoolhouse with several semesters worth of data, so I obviously don’t have any issues running it on 10.5.2. Have you tried trashing the app’s Application Support folder and relaunching?

The developer isn’t exactly responsive most of times, but you could certainly send a bug report/email asking for help.

Let us know if you find anything out.

I have had the same problem with Schoolhouse 2. The application stars up and asks to enter a new term and then gets stuck.

To get around this – Uncheck Create new term dialog box at startup. The application still quits when I try and create a new term.

I am running Mac OS 10.5.2

The application will work in Leapord by running it uing Rosetta.

Get Info (Commad -I) the Schoolhouse 2 application

Your done! The application will work in Leopard
