I couldn’t believe this news when I first saw it either. Current Chairman and cofounder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, is stepping down from day-to-day operations and will focus his energies on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for education.

I like the fact that the man feels passionate enough about something to leave the company that he cofounded. I have mixed feelings for the tech industry though. I’m a very strong Apple supporter. However, I feel slightly nostalgic that some of the big men that have essentially created the industry as I know, are starting to leave. With Bill Gates on the way out, there are just a handful left in the business. Just makes you think just how much longer Jobs will be with us. I have only been a devout Apple fan since the return of Jobs, so I can’t imagine and Apple without him. Just food for thought.
