Add right-click to XP on MacBook and MacBook Pro

I’m not sure how many people actually use Bootcamp, but I thought this would certainly be a welcome tip if you do use it. I’m very skeptical about installing Windows on my new Macbook, so I can’t vouch for this.

I do have to mention that if you have a new Macbook, you have a feature that is specific to your laptop, and one that I think most users will love at that. If you open up your Keyboard and Mouse settings in System Preferences and click on the Trackpad tab, you have an option now labeled “Tap trackpad with two fingers for secondary click”.

Enabling this little feature lets you tap on your trackpad with both fingers and get a crl-click. I love this feature!

Add right-click to XP on MacBook and MacBook Pro:
If you’ve used Bootcamp to install XP on your MacBook or MacBook Pro, you might have been frustrated by not being able to right-click. While shift + f10 will usually work, you might be looking for something more familiar. Apple Mouse Utility will let you use Control-click to right click. Simply place it in your Startup folder, and call it with /s, so that it launches silently on startup.

Also, KeyTweak will allow you to remap your Windows keyboard, useful for reassigning modifiers like Control-C to the Mac’s Command-C, etc.

This tip has been renedered obsolete with the updated version of Boot Camp (v1.1). I just installed this on my Macbook about a week ago, and while the tap-clicking and double-tap for ctrl-clicking doesn’t work, using the right cmd button and clicking does render a right click with XP. The keys also seemed to be remaped okay as well. I don’t know if this is a huge change from v1.0 of Boot Camp, but evidently it is. Other stuff like syncing your XP clock and the like have also been fixed.

Head on over to Apple’s website to read more about the changes and get the updated version. All you have to do is reburn your driver’s cd and install that in XP again and you’re all set basically.
