Mini-PCI in Macbooks

Okay, I was just reading an article about thoughts on the new Macbook, and found something that is so amazing, I just can’t stress it enough!!

“In what appears to be a huge step for Apple, the new AirPort card is a mini-PCI Express card that should improve bandwidth and compatibility. Mini-PCI express is a standard socket, which allows for a variety of upgrades to be done internally, however it’s unclear if Apple will fully support the technology in this fashion.”

So, we may actually be able to pop in a regular card here in the next bit, instead of paying for an over priced Airport card? While this is exciting, I don’t think that it will be of much use in the near future. Apple most likely won’t support anything besides their cards, and it’s hard enough to shop for a printer with Tiger drivers, let alone get a wireless card for Mac. The possibility exists though. I’m sure someone will get a Super-G type card working….wouldn’t that be fun? Not to mention that other internal cards besides wireless are possible.

Mini-PCI in a Mac, imagine the possibilities…
